Growing in Faith at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church

St. John the Evangelist Trustees: James Bilderback and Michael Lehnert
St. John the Evangelist Building Project Update

After reviewing the myriad of ideas/suggestions from parishioners and diocesan officials, a new plan for our building addition has been adopted. Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment on the first proposal. (See Proposed Plans)

Fundraising efforts continue. The Capital Campaign Committee plans to conduct a pledge
drive in the Summer/Fall of 2010, with construction in 2011, if all goes well. If you would
like to share your time and talent in this effort, contact Jim Bilderback at 715-354-9736.

Building Expansion and Improvement Project
St. John's Catholic community finds itself requiring some updates in order to keep our church thriving and to insure that all are welcomed into our faith community. A building committee has been diligently working, with the full support of the Diocese of Superior, on a project that will expand our existing church building. This project will address the following:

Handicapped accessibility(ground level entry, bathroom, lift, etc.)
Additional seating
An open and welcoming gathering space that can also be used for additional overflow seating
A full basement under the addition to provide expanded room for religious education, dinners, and much needed storage room.
A lift or elevator to allow access to both the church level and the basement level of the building
Improvements to the existing kitchen facility and other needed maintenance on the existing building

The committee has been working with the architectural firm of G.W. Kortness Associates, Inc., located in Spooner, WI, to assist with the design and construction. The design drawings can be accessed by clicking on the "Proposed Plans for Building Project" links on this website.

f you have questions about this project or would like to donate your time, talent or money, please feel free to contact the Parish office at 715-234-2917, or the Bldg. Committee Chairman, Jim Bilderback at 715-354-9736. All donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated by the St. John's parish community.

A 6 foot tall cross has been erected outside of the main entrance of church that shows how much we have collected toward this project to date. This will be updated regularly as we continue to accept donations from our parishioners and visitors.
